Complete Your Journey to Persuasion Excellence
The Golden Rule of Ethical Persuasion:
"Would I be happy if someone persuaded me using this same technique?"
If the answer is YES – it's ethical. If the answer is NO – stop immediately!
• Focusing on mutual benefit (Win-Win)
• Being honest about pros AND cons
• Respecting the other person's choice
• Using emotions + logic together
• Building long-term relationships
• Helping people make informed decisions
• Taking responsibility for outcomes
• Lying or hiding important information
• Using fear or guilt excessively
• Forcing or pressuring decisions
• Taking advantage of vulnerabilities
• Win-Lose mindset (only you win)
• Making false promises
• Blaming others when things go wrong
Before every persuasive attempt, ask yourself these 4 questions:
1. Am I telling the complete truth?
Not just avoiding lies, but sharing the full picture – including potential downsides.
2. Is this genuinely good for them?
Or am I just trying to benefit myself at their expense?
3. Am I respecting their freedom to choose?
Are they free to say NO without negative consequences?
4. Would I be proud to tell others how I persuaded them?
If you'd be embarrassed, it's probably unethical!
