ASSUME-Series-Strory No-1

Some wise person has said to me

If you want a strong relationship, don’t assume; ask and communicate.
But when we Ass-U-Me,
we might make a donkey out of you and me!

So today, let me share a beautiful funny story — straight from a small steel company in Rohtak —
a story that will show you how a simple assumption can change everything.
This is the story of Amit Corporation, and it’s about two employees — Amit and Pankaj.

Once upon a time in Haryana

Amit and Pankaj worked under the same roof.
Amit was the General Manager — earning ₹1 lakh a month.
Pankaj, on the other hand, had been working in the same company for 15 long years —
but earned just ₹10,000.

One day, Pankaj couldn’t hold his frustration anymore.
He walked straight into the Managing Director’s office.

“Sir,” he said,
“I’ve been here for 15 years… and I earn just ₹10,000.
Amit has been here for only 2 years, and he earns ten times more!
This is unfair!”

The MD smiled gently.
He didn’t argue.
Instead, he decided to teach a lesson — without a lecture.

“Pankaj,” he said, “before we talk about this, can you please check something for me?
A new steel truck has just arrived at the gate.
Can you go and see what’s inside?”

Pankaj nodded and went off.

After a while, he came back.
“Sir, the truck has 50 coils of steel.”

“Good,” said the MD. “What are the grades?”

Pankaj went again. Came back again.

Pankaj “Sir,Three grades — A, B, and C.”

“Good,” said the MD. “How many coils of each grade?”

Pankaj went again. Came back again.
Pankaj “Sir, Grade A — 20, Grade B — 15, and Grade C — 15.”

The MD nodded.
Then he called Amit.

“Amit, can you please check the truck that just arrived?”

Amit went.
Came back once.

And said —
“Sir, the truck has 50 coils — 20 of Grade A, 15 of Grade B, and 15 of Grade C.
All are properly labeled and secured.
The truck has arrived right on schedule as per the delivery chart.”

The MD looked at Pankaj… and said softly,
“Do you see the difference?
You assumed that your 15 years of experience automatically meant you deserved more.
But Amit used his observation — not assumption — to understand things completely in one go.
That’s why his value is higher.”

And in that moment — Pankaj understood.

🎯 MORAL & CONNECTION TO “ASSUME”

Friends, here’s the truth:
We all assume things at work —
about people, about situations, about what we “deserve.”

But every time we assume…
we risk turning into that very ass in the word “Assume”!

👉 “Ass” stands for donkey
👉 “U” stands for you.
👉 “Me” stands for… well, me! 😄

So when we Ass-U-Me,
we make a donkey out of both — you and me!

Instead of assuming, let’s start observing.
Instead of jumping to conclusions, let’s gather facts.
Because in the professional world, success doesn’t come from assumption —
it comes from attention. 👀

KEY TAKEAWAYS

1️⃣ Observation beats assumption.
Learn to see, not just look.

2️⃣ Details matter.
Those who notice more, grow more.

3️⃣ Experience matters less than efficiency.
How fast and accurately you act — that defines your worth.

4️⃣ Never assume you know it all.
Curiosity keeps you learning, and learning keeps you growing.

🎬 CONCLUSION

So, my dear friends —
Next time you feel undervalued, unrecognized, or misunderstood…
don’t just assume.
Pause. Observe. Understand.

Because assumption creates distance —
but observation builds wisdom.

And that… is the real difference between “Donkey Work” and “Smart Work.” 🧠✨

Stay tuned —
for the next 21 days, we’ll share more such fun and powerful stories
based on this one little word — ASSUME.

Until then…
don’t “assume,” just “observe.”
Because life rewards those who see clearly. 👁️
